Through The Windshield - A word from your Director

Hello Everyone,

Sorry this newsletter is late! The fifth month snuck up on me last weekend and I didn't realize it!

May is the month of Mother's Day, Memorial Day, and the opening of the fishing season. So, remember your mother and take her fishing, or something like that.

April turned out to be the soggiest April on record in Oregon since weather first started being recorded in 1940. We even had snow on April 11th in the Portland area.

Tim Dickerson lead a ride up through Silverton and Silver Falls, largely missing the rain until the skies opened up and dropped rain and hail on the riders. Our fourth Sunday ride was lead by Jon Erickson out to Vernonia and beyond on what turned into a great day weatherwise.

Volcano Harley Davidson had an open house on the weekend of the 23rd, both Saturday and Sunday, and I believe it was a resounding success! A huge number of people turned out, with hot dogs, live music, beer and a huge number of bikes for customers to choose from. I want to thank the HOG and Black Sheep volunteers that generously donated their time to help our sponsoring dealership have a successful first weekend.

For those of you that are unaware, if you volunteer your time as a HOG member at store events, you will be compensated with Volcano Harley-Davidson gift cards for your time! Please message Keri for upcoming events for your chance to earn!

How has your bike maintenance program doing? Do you remember TCLOCK? Make sure you inspect and/or replace your battery as well. I just replaced my Klockwerks 12 inch windshield with a Klockwerks 15 inch windshield because my new seat put me back into the wind.

Let's not forget to bring in your mileage rockers so we can move your name up on the Mileage Milestone board at the next meeting.

Also, as I'm typing this with the movie "Wild Hogs" playing in the background, let's keep the Cody Rally, "Kicking It In Cody" on our radar, its coming up fast, and I can't wait! Let's just keep the plastic bags at home, we'll be staying motels and not tent camping!

I'm also looking forward to the North Cascades ride later in the summer.

I want to thank Valerie, Kelly, and Keri, among others for putting in the effort on pre-riding the International Female Ride Day. Unfortunately, Mother Nature had alternate plans and the ride never came to fruition.

I'm looking forward to seeing so many of you at our upcoming rides and events in May, and throughout the busy summer!

See you on the highways and back roads!
