I first rode a friends Cushman motorscooter in 1950, then the next year another friend let me ride his recently acquired Simplex Servi-Cycle. A love affair commenced. Finally at 16 I bought a Lambretta 125 which was my high school transportation. The comradery I found among motorcycle riders really impressed me. Later I rebuilt an Allstate (Vespa 125) which I hoped to trade in on Triumph 21. Due to cost of the Triumph in San Francisco, and being a dental student, I settled for a Vespa 175 GS. At 30 (a rough year) I purchased a ’69 Yamaha DS6C, but always knew I needed a Harley. After years of buying numerous $100 raffle tickets (reverse drawings are a blast), I came to the conclusion that if I was to have my Harley, I’d better buy it now. A ’05 Night Train. If I had waited to win one, I would be too old to enjoy it.
Acquiring a camera in 1946 became a lifelong love affair with photography. With the advent of digital photography a whole new world of options became available to photographers.
Always combining my love of motorcycles, photography, and computers along with modifying or customizing, I am having a blast being a HOG member.
The variety of rides that we embark on here at Rose City H.O.G. provide a wide variety of new destinations for the rider and always great food. And did I mention the comradery? Come and join us.

In January 2007 I joined Simi Valley, California HOG Chapter and in April 2009 I became a member of Rose City HOG Chapter. I ride a 2-tone custom blue, 2001 HD Ultra Classic, named "Beautiful Jenny". I saw her one Saturday and a week later I owned her. This was my present to myself for my 65th birthday. A month later I completed the riders course to get my motorcycle endorsement and started riding. I had never ridden any motorcycle in my life prior to October 2006. As of December 2011 I have logged over 60,000 miles including one fantastic journey in 2008 of three months covering 9,273 miles, motorcycling, camping and seeing the USA. I travelled alone and each day’s question was "Where will I be at sunset tonight?"
I have done photography for over 60 years and in the period of 1962 to 1980 I did it professionally. Then in the early 21st century I got back into it again with the advent of digital photography. For several years I was a photo journalist for a weekly Rotary publication.
I retired in 2008 after 20 years as an Independent Insurance Broker, owning my own agency in Southern California. The prior 22 years I spent as an engineer in the aerospace, defense and electronics industries.
I have two adult daughters from a prior marriage and I married "Jazzy Char" in August 2010. We live in the southeast Vancouver Fisher Landings area, which is off of Washington Highway 14. My email is ED.KOTRHD@gmail.com and “KOTRHD” stands for “King Of The Road Harley-Davidson”.
"Screw it, let’s ride!" "Harley ED" Darling.

I bought my 2007 Ultra Classic Electra Glide (Pacific Blue) in March 2007, and joined Rose City HOG later the same month. A few weeks later, I went on my first Chapter Ride, and took my camera along. I was taking a few pictures for myself, and Mark Schadewitz spotted me. He invited me to join the photo team. I mounted my camera on my handlebar and like to take picures that give you the actual feel of the ride. I usually take 500-600 pictures on the ride, and then edit them down to post on the website. If you would like to have a digital copy of any of my photos, just e-mail me the date and number of the picture, and I will send it.

I am my husband's back seat passenger. I love riding with him, and find it a great way to de-stress. After he became a part of the photo team, he asked if I would like to take pictures from my perch in the back. I told him I would need a cheap camera because I didn't want to feel guilty if it fell out of my hands. I haven't done a lot of photography because I was intimidated by traditional cameras, the film, the flashes, and all the adjustments you need to make. The digital camera is great! I can take hundreds of pictures, and delete them if they don't turn out. I like to take photos of beautiful scenery, animals, and interesting buildings. Tom and I blend our photos and post them together in the ride albums.
