I've been a member of Rose City Chapter since 2008. Currently I serve as a Road Captain and Safety Officer. My interest is always centered on the wonderful folk who ride Harley-Davidson motorcycles. Every person is special and it is great to have an opportunity to share with these people.

Like many of you, I have been riding motorcycles for many years. Bought my first road bike in 1971 when we moved to Hawaii, a Honda CB 100. What a screamer. We brought that bike back to the mainland but then kids brought an end to my road bike days. We rode dirt bikes for years as a family when our kids were younger. Keeping their bikes running was always a challenge. After our kids were grown and gone we got back into the road arena. Our first big cruiser was a Kawasaki 1500 Classic. A great bike that I sometimes wish was still in my garage. In 2008 we decided to buy our first Harley Davidson when Sharon fell in love with the 105th Anniversary Edition colors. We have a 2008 Ultra Classic that we love.

After exiting the US Navy as a First Class Diver serving in the Philippines, Vietnam and Hawaii, I had the good fortune to land a job in the Fire Bureau. I had a wonderful career as a Firefighter/ Paramedic and retired after 28 years with my last several years serving as the Emergency Medical Services Training Officer and then subsequently the EMS Coordinator for Portland Fire Bureau. I also worked part-time for LifeFlight as a Flight Medic for 18 years. Currently I'm working part-time on a research project at OHSU studying Sudden Cardiac Death. I remain certified as an Oregon State Paramedic.

My interest in the Chapter has always been to maintain a high level of safety for our members when we are riding. I enjoy working with your Chapter Road Captains to plan diverse, fun and safe rides for you throughout the year.
