| Q: | Do I have to own a Harley-Davidson motorcycle to be a member of Rose City HOG? |
| A: | In order to be a Rose City HOG member you need to be a member of National HOG. In order to be a member of National HOG you need to own and register your Harley-Davidson or Buell motorcycle so by virtue of that fact, you need to own a Harley or Buell. Associate Members of HOG are sponsored by a Harley owner and therefore do not need to own a motorcycle. |
| Q: | Do I have to live in the Portland area to be a member? |
| A: | No, there is no geographical restriction. We have many members throughout Oregon, Washington and beyond. |
| Q: | I already belong to a local HOG chapter. Can I be a member of Rose City HOG too? |

| A: | Absolutely. 2-wheeled, 3-wheeled and sidecars are all welcome. |
| Q: | How long are the rides? |
| A: | The length varies. It depends on the destination and the time of year. Rides tend to be shorter in the winter when we have less daylight. When possible, the ride details will be posted on the event detail page. 50 to 100 miles is typical. |
| Q: | What is a group riding class? |
| A: | The group riding classes are put on by our chapter road captains and are limited to chapter members. The class doesn't teach you how to ride a motorcycle but rather how we ride as a group (formations, safety, hand signals, etc). Successfully completing a group riding class earns the member a certificate and a "Rose City Chapter" rocker to go over their small HOG patch. |
| Q: | Where do the rides start from? |
| A: | Unless otherwise noted, rides begin at Latus Motors Harley-Davidson in Gladstone, OR. |
| Q: | Where do the rides go? |
| A: | Our road captains do a great job of creating enjoyable rides. The rides typically avoid major highways as much as possible and emphasize the great roads and scenery available to us in the pacific northwest. They pre-ride the routes prior to an event to make sure there are no road hazards, detours or other surprises. The rides will almost always end at a restaurant where the chapter enjoys a meal together. Once the meal is over, members are free to go their own way. This is known as a "destination" ride and is the most common ride we do. Occasionally there will be an organized ride back to the starting point but those are the exception to the rule. |
| Q: | Do you allow alcohol? |
| A: | No. Rose City HOG adheres to the National HOG guidelines when it comes to alcohol and riding with the group. We want make sure our members ride responsibly and pose no risk to other members. Once the ride has ended and we are no longer riding in a group, alcohol, tempered by good judgment, is permitted. |
| Q: | Do I have to sign a waiver to go on a ride? |
| A: | Yes. Standard waivers are required for riders, passengers and minors. They will be available during registration just prior to the ride or you can download and print them (from the "Forms" link on the left side of the page) and bring them with you. |
